Hey guys. Got me a nice scratch on my screen from the edge of the whiper blade :(

Anyone know any easy fixes rather than a new windscreen?

Cheers.

SNAP!

I got me one of them, bloody wipers.

Garage that I brought it from gave the car an MOT before I took it away, what a joke! If I had of MOTd it with wipers in the state theyre in it would have failed.
Unfortunately I didnt realise how bad they were until it rained and I was forced to use them, resulting in a scratch like yours.

How on earth did you manage that scratch?

Well it wasn't long after I got the car, used the whipers a few times, then once in very heavy rain, the rubber covering it came off and through the journy, I guess it just carved away at the glass, it's not mega deep, just vissable at it's quite wide :(

Think it's a new window job? If so I'll bare with it, just annoying to be honest.

Try asking big glass workshops / glass shops, they can fix that using special paste.
Similar to the cabrio plastic wind screens on the back.

Dont know the cost of it, but they can even repair small puncture holes on the glass whit some kind of gel.
It is just a matter of having the right equipment.
Hope you will have luck.

What about insurance, only £50 for a brand new one and won't affect your NCB!!!!!!!!!!

Would that work? I thought it was just stone chips etc? They could look at this and say it was my fault for not keeping it maintained properly. Might be worth a try though! Cheers for the help.

Gary

Still don't see how.
It does't follow the arc that the wiper travels through.

It does, it's the line of the rightside of the left whiper, looking from drivers position.

Just phone up your insurance company and explain
what has happened, it is accidental damage after all, they will tell to (you or get in touch themselves) with autoglass or whatever who will come over and replace it. On my insurance they charge £50 and this is unlimited and does n;t affect my NCB's! Better than driving around with a bodged up windscreen, which could also be a MOT failure, in which case it will need replacing anyway!

phone up your insurance company and say its broken, on the day they are coming to see it, smash it ;) (only joking)

Just check what your insurance policy says, with direct line its just a case of taking it to one of several glass companies such as Auto glass.
Hand your certificate over and about £50 and they will change it.
Normally there is no need to contact the insurance company they really arnt that interested.

Haha, never noticed that, it's even got a little spoiler on there too. Next time I go to body shop, or get some paint for my car, I might give it a paint job :)
