I've just had the 12k service that showed bad alignment has ruined my front tyres...:bang:

4mm across the outside + centre, but the inside edge is 0mm.

So, £100 laser alignment + 2 new fronts, but NO-ONE appears to have Eagle F1's available. Not even a due date on new stock.

I've tried an excellent local tyre place, Even Mobile and Black Circles. All told me the same thing.

Anyone else had the same problem? Or know of a good place to search.

It is just the shoulders, the tiny grooves at the edge of the tyre (that don't have wear markers).

All of the grooves with wear markers are showing 4mm.

I might ask my trusted tyre place's opinion, and just get the tracking done.

By the way, Michledever Tyres seem to be the only people in the country with 195/45 x15 Eagle F1's

Micheldever are part of the Protyre group and will supply tyres to other Protyre branches if that's more convenient for you - it was an hour for the Eastleigh branch I used. Unfortunately, Micheldever don't like breaking up sets of tyres unless you visit them personally so when I had a puncture Protyre weren't able to source a single replacement tyre from them.

The insides of my front tyres are also bald but there is still thread across 75% of the tyre so therefore they are stilll legal.

I'll have to keep an eye on them though.

As for the getting a hold of Eagle F1's, try some online tyre places like www.camskill.co.uk

If you're getting Eagle F1s ensure they're German made and not Chinese or Thai made ones - whilst the non-German ones aren't 'fake' as such (they are Goodyear), they're complete and utter rubbish. Just google for 'chinese "eagle f1"' to see what I mean.

still getting hold of eagle f1's through work here, the last two this week on a 2808 dot code. How can it be bad allignment when every 100hp does it? I think it's just how the car is set up, the cambers what gives it such good turn in.. if you iron this out it'll ruin the car's handling imo, just put up with having to buy new fronts every 10-12k!

A decent alternative, although without the nice looking tread pattern of the F1s, is Michelin Pilot Exalto, I have them on the front now. On my VTS these were standard and I went to 4 Continental ContiSports and they were dire. I think they contributed to the crash because they let go far sooner than the Michelins. Of course, I made the BIGGEST contribution, I'm fully aware

I just had the very same problem! Just had 24k service on friday and no F1's, oh and that they were bald on the inside and i had to get the tracking sorted. But in relation to tyres i was told about something like 6 other options.. How was i supposed to know which one? I thuoght id get specific models off the dealer and look on black circles reviews, but they didnt have any details available, I went for yokohama's.. And i like em! If anything it was because i recall the tread looking similar to the eagles. I would say the car seems slightly softer on the road, yay!! Maybe this is just cos they arent bald! the tread does seem deep on them though and nothing else has said they're inferior. So i think i did well!

Is it too much to ask to have a car that handles well and doesn't eat tyres? it's not a drift car after all:rolleyes::p

(btw my alignment is still ok after the correction, with no difference in handling (y))

anyway, there was a shortage of eagle F1s a while ago, must be in demand, but the new assemetric (spelling) type are out, although apparently not in panda sizes:rolleyes:

What Yoko's did you get?

the 'S Drive' i think theyre called, about £60 from main dealer. I was a prepared to be a little disappointed after the F1's but so far i really like them. Not stopped the fun anyway!

I had a set on my old beemer, actually not a bad tyre I thought. Sidewalls are stiffer than F1 so ought to make the steering feel a bit sharper.
