General DVLA and change of engine.

General DVLA and change of engine.

Which he does so it will be on the co2 emissions of the new engine right?

Not sure how they would do it though because the CO2 emissions from the same engine will be different depending on what car it is in.
So I wouldn't think it would just take the emissions straight from the car the new engine came from.

:chin:

Maybe based on co2 if the donor car is post March 2001, though a few years back I read an article about a 1.0 3 pot Corsa the owner had put a 3.0 Omega engine into - the Corsa being post 2001 and the Omega being pre 2001 baffled the DVLA's computers and he ended up still paying the £50 a year due for the 3 pot, despite having declared the new engine.

Can't say if that's still the case or not, tbh I reckon that was handled manually and his £50/year was due to human error.

Have just had mine through on 1.4 cinq and stayed the same.
But that is a pre March 2001 car, so only taxed on capacity, not on CO2.
Yours is still on the simple pre 2001 upto 1500cc tax.

Was your engine from a pre or post March 2001 car?

Maybe because one is a sporting and ones an SX, maybe some very slight changes mechanical wise? Just to make it a bit more 'sporty' than the other models?

The sporting is geared slightly different than the other models isnt it?
