I Have A 1998 Ducatto Motor Home That When Started Last Week The Battery Warning Light Stayed On.i Have Put A Meter Accross The Battery To Find A Charging Rate Of 17.8 Volts.does This Mean That The Voltage Regulator In The Alternator Has Gone And A New Alternator Is Needed?

waaaay to high (14.6-8 about right but some later systems with smart charging can reach 16-5 for short periods),agree sounds like regulator.

careful where you buy your alternator from. Main dealer quoted over £400 plus vat, motor factor supplied one but if I remember correctly the six groove pulley had to be changed over from the existing alternator to the factors one. Cost £165.00.
