Hi I’ve taken the back doors off now and put a solid 1mm mild steel panel on the back with supporting 25x25 box section. Spot welded it all in and tiger sealed all around so it’s 100% solid and watertight now. Just attaching everything back now but forgot about the number plate lights. If I got a 40x40 piece of box section cut to a little wider than the number plate and primed/sprayed it and got 2 universal number plate lights (see pic) would that be fine for the MOT etc as the original light holder needs the indent of the doors which I don’t have now. If so it will just be a 12v light won’t it?

Matt

The lamp units need to be type approved. See extract fron Vehicle Lighting Regs, which I have trimmed to fit on one A4 page.
However those in your photo seem to be OK

...not sure if the number plate lights are Canbus connected/operated, but I wouldn't be surprised on the X/250, in which case you would probably need to match the total wattage to the originally installed unit(s). (assuming you're attaching to the existing wiring).
