General Ducato x244 2005 missing hole plug?

Been sprayng waxoyl around the base of the front body jacking points ( at the rear of the wheel arches) and found a nice punched hole inboard and adjacent to the jacking point which was approx 28mm diameter, same on left or right side, does anyone know if this hole should now be blanked off- I can see arguments both ways but dont really want the waxoyl to wash out
