Hi all,

Background
I have recently bought a 2010 Fiat Ducato. 1 previous owner that used it as a works van. I bought it with this issue thinking it would be a relatively simple solution. How wrong I was.

Problem
The door hasn't budged since I bought the van. The lock does make the usual central locking sound when the key fob is pressed but both internal/external handles don't engage anything, as if the door is locked.

I've tried pushing the internal contacts closer to the door, no joy. All cables and pins look sound.

I've seen a few other similar posts to this but the solutions on those haven't worked.

Any help would be massively appreciated. I have a multimeter to test connections, just not sure what I'm looking for.

Thanks in advance.

Top latch has probably missed the pin and jammed you should be able to see through the door gap

Hey Corcai,

Appreciate the help. I can see the cable going to the top latch from inside the van and this moves freely when you pull on it directly, unless I'm misunderstanding I don't think it's that.

The top latch doesn't budge when you pull the handle, it feels like nothing moves, as if its locked.

Forgive my ignorance if this is a simple fix.

Thanks,
Charlie

I too have an issue with the top latch.
Note: My van is the 2006 2.8 JTD...so a different model.

Some points....

The LHS sliding door can be unlocked by the drivers side door.
But also can be locked independently of the front doors at the sliding door.

My sliding door did jam by missing the top right pin whilst I manually turned the latch down.
Was experimenting with the locking/docking mechanism.
I unjammed it with a heave from the inside at the known latch point.

Is there any door lock actuator there?
I don't have your model vehicle but it should be similar?

They are very big doors! You want them latched.
