Technical Ducato Folding Mirror Retrofit?

Hi,
Can anyone help me on whether a retrofit option to allow the mirrors to fold is available on an X290 with existing electrical adjustable mirrors? I know that it's available as a build option on a Boxer.

I'd be interested to do it/have it done if it's a matter of adding some additional control components to the existing mirrors. I'm not keen if the only option is to buy two complete mirror systems.
Has anyone done it or had it done by an auto electrician?

You would certainly need two new door mirrors. The electric motors in the adjustable mirrors are only for aligning the mirror glass within the housings. Folding mirrors will have additional motors acting on the mirror mountings. Wiring to the door connectors may or may not be present, I don't know.

Fiat will tell you that you would also need a new body computer, since it is configured at the factory specifically to your vehicle and the options fitted during manufacture. There is aftermarket software available that allows some reconfiguration of the body computer, but the only mirror related function it supports is the addition or deletion of heated mirrors, so in this instance Fiat are probably correct.

Unless you replace the mirrors and cobble together your own switch and wiring!

In olden days there would have been a parts fiche with each individual sub component within the major component numbered and available to order. Not now.
