Technical Ducato Comfortmatic Help needed P060A-79 'Linkeage Failure' X290 2017

Ive a 2017 Ducato 130 with Comfortmatic, 29,000 miles from new.

Two times now its failed with no drive. I have Multiecuscan and have read the codes, first time it said it wanted 1st gear but was in second. from memory the engine would rev but no transmission. I did screenshot before clearing the code. I was driving down a very very steep hill at slow decent speed. Second time I had just started off and had no drive, it wouldnt rev, just in tickeover.

Have we anybody with knowledge of Comfortmatic problems who can advise what to do?

As you probably know, the comfortmatic training manual is one of the downloads available from this website.

The attached photo is based on one of the illustrations from this document. The system's ECU relies on a couple of linear position sensors to know the position of the various robotised mechanical parts "grafted" on to the top of the mechanical gearbox. They correspond to the "fore/aft" and "left/right" movements of a conventional manual gear knob. If these sensors are faulty or misaligned it might give the sort of odd effect you are seeing. I think the two sensors are probably identical parts, but can't be 100% sure.
