I wanted to post my own thread here even tho I have seen others but for me it’s not in the location to refill oil on the gearbox breather

Apparently diagonal from airbox the refil plug is present
But in this location for me it the clutch bleed valve

My 3.0 is the comfortmatic version
I will post images what I’m seeing
I have found the gear box drain plug on the diff

I also have the diagram on the fist download service user manual but it’s no use for me
So would rather talk to someone who’s carried out the job on this gearbox

On the diagram it shows a lot of things that I don’t have 😂 like engine bay fuse box it doesn’t show the seperate on for the hydraulic pump fuse etc

The refill plug says is next to the reverse switch
Here’s pic I have got or taken today
I will say I have found a rubber cap of some sort bang behind the rectangle reservoir for the transmission fluid which would be more accessible from the battery box I think
First 2 images are the rubber cap behind transmission fluid tank

3rd image is the location others have said they did the refill but this is my clutch bleed valve

The illustrations you have posted are "wonky" because they are taken from manual with gearbox mounted on a service stand.

The reverse switch and fill point are in the front face Of the gearbox. It is a fill point NOT Fill/level point. Trans fluid change is drain completely then refill with correct amount of correct fluid.

Yea I know it’s not a level
I’m looking to drain completely
Found drain plug
I have 2.9 litres ready
Can not find the breather
The expression top up
I meant to put new oil in 👍

Fill it through the fill hole because you are very unlikely to find a breather .

Use a funnel and a tube from the top side- which is pretty much standard procedure for all gearboxes today.

Undo the filler from below, you may find it easier to disconnect wires to reverse switch.

You miss understand me mate
That’s what I’ve been looking for 😂
I found the drain hole bottom gear box right hand side

But!!! Just been back under behind radiator front face gear box is another plug 8mm Alan

That's correct " on the Front face of gearbox "
I was then sent this for the drain plug under the gear box
But again I don’t have the drain under or around the diff
It’s on the bottom side wall

Almost certainly yes but Post a better photo after you remove the under tray.

Plus measure how much fluid drains out for interest.

The tray is off buddy
But it’s not jacked yet
It’s on the milenco ramps while I was looking around first
Didn’t want to start the job until I had enough information
Just done clutch refill
Then transmission reservoir
Now onto the gear box then oil change filters etc
Here’s a better image
Tomorrow I will get it on jacks so I can have more room to do the oil change anyway from the sump plug
I’ve had enough room today however to get around looking

I also tried the filler plug with this 8mm square drain key it’s way to big
The filler plug near the reverse switch or what ever I’m looking at is small I’d say 5mm

Use the correct size and shape key it is far more likely on a fiat to be hexagon shape.
Once you get the useless undertray out of the way and vehicle lifted a decent amount on good ramps a mirror may help you get a decent view .

I can’t find any information that the refil plug is smaller then 8mm tho mate is my worry
12mm for drain plug
8mm refill plug
Must be the wrong place I’m in 🤷‍♂️

The trays are off they are on the floor under the van
It’s on milenco ramps so I can get around to look no problem
Just not carry out the draining is what I mean

You will know far more when you get it properly up in the air and have a proper look yourself .there is often a limit to what is worth trying to find on www before looking with your own eyes.
Plus stuff on www is often not 100% for instance you have already had someone send you a picture of the drain plug which is clearly incorrect.

Ducato 3.0 maxi 160 multijet 2009 comfortmatic m40 box the lower gearbox drain plug location and only drain

2nd image is the filler plug next to reverse switch front face
These are the only plugs on this box
