hi guy's

My ducato fails it mot today
1, all indicator lamp the wrong colour
2 rear number plate light not working
3 offside rear Suspension spring mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded
4 nearside rear ( inner sill ) spring mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded
5 nearside rear ( outer sill ) spring mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded
6 both o/s and n/s seat belt anchorage prescribed area is excessively corroded

I have looked underneath and can't find the areas mentioned does anyone know if and where i can find a chassis parts list with pictures so i can identify the parts they are on about I have poked around and can't find any excessive rust

does anyone have any idea what colour the lights should be they have orange bulbs in as from new

Thanks for any help

With regard to the indicators I seem to have to change my bulbs every year (though the garage usually puts them in there and then rather than issue a fail certificate)

What happens is that the orange coating of the bulb flakes off.

hi
well its passed the mot for the last seven years with the same bulbs in and not even an advisory they still all look orange but who knows i will have to change them guess i am lucky they have never needed changing before .

Its really the welding as i have looked underneath and can't find the rust they are on about i ws look for pictures on the points they failed it on if it needs welding i will have it done but i have to find the rust first.

Is your 244 a panel van or motorhome? I've got the same base under a motorhome and the chassis to which the rear springs are attached is solid, and doesn't look like a weak point.

Also a bit puzzled about the seat belt mountings; the stalk is fitted to the seat and I can't even see the inertia reel mountings from underneath to check on their soundness.

Before the days of computerised MOT's you could take vehicles round somewhere else for another go; don't know if that is still possible now?

Your fail wont be on the system, you can take it else where but it costs you every time!!
Tester should have chalked all the areas of corrosion so you could see them.

hi Again

Its a panel van conversion by Murvi as far as i can tell the Seat belts attach to a a pilier on the inside of the van can't find anywhere this attaches to the the outside underneath and this all the down the inside under sills looks solid.

I will have to put it up on a ramp next week and have a good look was really looking for a diagram of the chassis and if possible pictures

thanks for the reply

Update
ok had the van up on a ramp the only rust is to the inner sill and no where near the spring hangers nor the seat belt anchorage points it does need some welding on the inner and outer sills may be new sills would be best but no where near any structural point so not sure why they failed it i will take it back and see what they say thanks for all your advice and comments

IIRC if its within 12" of the mentioned points, its a fail. Don't know what parts would be available, but maybe a good 'panel beater' ( if u can still find one....) can make tidy repair panels for you if needed- try a classic car bodyshop, they usually are used to making bespoke repairs like yours and may put more effort into a tidy job?
