Hello all,

Please can someone point me in the right direction. I have a year 2000 RHD Hymer, but the Fan Speed Switch is on the right of the three rotary controls unlike the videos I have seen. The switch I bought looks right except it is the opposite hand to all the switches Google can find for me. It seems the only difference is that one screw pillar is on the right rather than the left. Do you have any suggestions please? (The problem I am trying to fix is that I have to waggle to rotary control to get fan speed 4 (Max.) and quickly drops back to a much lower speed)

Thanks for your help,

Simon

Hymer may have rearranged the layout of the heater controls during their conversion. Have you purchased or been supplied the wrong part? Are you directly comparing the new switch with the existing one?

Convention would suggest clockwise rotation of the switch to increase speed.

Thank you for your reply, The switch is CW to increase, but it is the mirror image of the only type I can find available to buy, i.e. the opposite hand of the one in the picture attached, all three mounting pillars are on opposite sides of the vertical centreline, but it is still a CW to increase design. .

Does not this one from Coastal via eBay match your photo? Coastal Motorhomes are often recommended, and I have used them myself.

Unless I am going mad, unfortunately not. The Coastal switch, the one in my picture and the one I bought are all the same but the opposite hand to what I need.

I was not sure whether your photo was of old, or new switch. Problem now understood, picture is of purchased / available items.

The layout of the heating controls on my x244 is, fan speed at LHS, temperature centre, and distribution at the RHS. I expect the basic x230 to be similar, and do not see why it should be different on LHD vehicles which would be the bulk of Hymer conversions.
There is however the possibility of Hymer changing the control positions as part of the conversion, perhaps to suit a possible modified heating duct layout, and using a special part for the fan speed control.

I know that member @Reg 65 has been working on his x230. Perhaps he would be kind enough to confirm the heater control layout on his vehicle?

Not me - I've never had an X2/30
I have X2/50 and X2/90 but have never done any work on the heaters
