Technical Ducato 2002 2.0 11 JTD MWB

The airbag control unit has given up the ghost on my Ducato 2002 11JTD 2.0 MWB.

I have a part number of 1336355080.

My mechanic couldn’t read the diagnostics so suggested I send it to Crash Data. They have said the circuit board is damaged (van is new to me so don’t know how that happened). They have said if I can get a ‘host’ - by which I take it to mean another of these - they can transfer the data.

That’s where I’m drawing a blank. They seem to be rare as hen’s teeth. I have spent hours registering with multiple parts finders, phoning Fiat dealers and searching Ebay.

I can’t believe my van may be at risk all for the want of a part.

It’s an Autosleeper camper build on a FIAT Ducato base and I can’t bear the thought of having to scrap a perfectly good vehicle.

Does anyone know if these things have been updated or if there’s a compatible part with a different number? Or whether I can just have the old airbag system removed and replaced complete with a new control unit.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

It's a lot of paperwork nowadays. Maybe a continental acquaintance or someone on this forum could forward it to you, or smuggle it in their luggage

Far be it from me to encourage wrong doing! They’re in Poland. See what they say. I do know one line of Polish if I’m forced…’today we’re going to the lake’…that ought to convince!

If that doesn't work and you figure out how to fill in the hellish customs declaration, and edit a shipping label for UPS/DHL/etc, I'm happy to stick it on the parcel and drop it at the collection point from my address in Portugal.
