having problems finding one, does anyone know where I could get one please?

I am guessing , but front wheel drive Citroen,Peugeot or Renaults with that same 2.8 or maybe even the earlier 2.5 Sofim engine versions.
The Iveco Daily also used that engine but in rear wheel drive format so not applicable.

Whats the issue..?

5th gear is a common issue.. But I am wondering if it's as easy to get it rebuilt

Hi, it won’t go into 5th gear now and all other gears are very crunchy, I’d be happy to have it rebuilt but I can’t find anyone to do that.

A quick question..
As a test.. Go through the gears with it parked.. ENGINE OFF

Is that OK? (improved)

That's often a sign of the Clutch.. Rather than the gearbox

A 2001 Ducato will be an x230 model, with cable operated clutch. Worth checking that cable is correctly adjusted, before embarking on more expensive procedures.
