I have just become the proud owner of this rolling bucket of junk. It looks better the further away you get from it. :D

There are a couple of issues that I could do with a little bit of help on please and thank you.

The speedo needle flickers like mad up until about 90kph then it's nice and steady. New cable or adjustment perhaps?

The rev counter is firmly stuck at zero. Could this be a an electrical fault or is it related to the speedo issue?

I am considering swapping out the instrument panel anyway as it's a RHD in MPH and I am in France and would rather a unit displaying in KPH. Is it possible to adjust the new unit to match the true milage/kilometrage of the vehicle? Is there anything I should be careful of while doing this?

As I'm getting older I'm finding it harder to hear the indicator clicking, are there louder relays or repeaters of some kind available?

I would love to replace a few of the niggly little broken items such as interior light lens etc. Is there a site that specialises in that sort of bits and pieces. I find eBay to be very tedious when looking for stuff like that.

I think I win today's prize for the most questions in one post. :D

When the cable goes bad it eventually takes the pinion in the gearbox with it and the cluster. Its easy to remove the pinion from the gearbox from underneath then you can check the pinion for wear and check the cable for stiffness.

For the interior bits your best idea is go to a small independant scrapyard and take them off yourself makes no sense to pay postage on lots of little bits. Or make a list and send it to all the people scrapping vans on ebay fora quote, you may find someone is prepared to send you the lot.

Alternatively if you register for service.citroen.com you can get the citroen numbers for the bits you need, they are usually very cheap. I needed the inner door handle recently. £10-£20 used on ebay plus postage
€30 from fiat
€7.50 from local citroen dealer.

For expensive parts check axel augustin in germany he has a lot of the old stock parts.

Thanks for the advice Corcaí.

The buzzer is a good idea. The relay seems to be in the dash at the front left which is fine if it's a LHD but very far away in a RHD.

You're right about the postage, it's sometimes more than the cost of the item.

* Polite thread bump. *

Anybody got any ideas on my rev counter that doesn't count?

I had a motorhome based on a '98 Boxer. It had an instrument cluster that lifted out after replacing 2 screws in the front. It did not have a rev counter. It looked like this.

I did replace it, as the perspex was cracked, and I was able to adjust the mileometer to read the correct mileage.

Thanks Andy, I found an instrument cluster that is the same as mine except in kilometres. It's perfect for me and at €40 isn't bad price wise. Is it hard to adjust the mileage to match the old one? I want to get it right as it just got a new CT (French MOT) on the 20th April and I want it to be as honest as possible.
