Does anyone know if a facia panel to upgrade the radio to a double din unit is available for this model ?

It is an unusual radio, no one Ive asked has seen one like it

I think that your photos are showing a "connect unit", which as you have found are rare indeed.

A double DIN cowl was produced, but discontinued.

You may find this old thread interesting. Also some Italians have adopted a DIY approach which can be seen here.

It's a Magneti Marelli Connect Nav unit. It was fitted as standard to some higher spec. Ducatos.

The vertical slot on the right takes an old style credit card size SIM card for the built in mobile phone.
The built in navigation system uses a CD ROM for its data source.
