Technical Ducato 1997, 2.5tdi bus, ECU/engine working bad!!

Hi, I read a thread from hymerhobo who long time ago (2013) had same problem that I now have with my own 1997 Ducato 2.5 tdi!
And yes it has cost me a lot of money:-((about 1800£).:bang::bang:

The problem is that the engine loose power.

Mostly it only have about 60%, max speed 60mph.
Sometimes just 20%, max speed 20mph

A few times by cold start (about+5dg) the engine reluctant starts on 2-3 cylinders, after few minuts all 4 runs, but only low idle- no reaction by press the gas pedal to the bottom of the car!
Now I stop- and restart the engine and now the revolutions works, but stil missing a lot of power!

Sometimes by driving the car, the engine makes a short cutoff, like pushing to an ignition cut off contact on a petrol engine.

Sometimes the red engine lamp lit and sometimes not!

I tryed different Garages, also a Bosch special garage but none of them can help me.
They all tryed to get contact to the ECU through the Diagnostic port with no luck!
I think this system is 1. generation with Electronic control and only produced to few models.

Are there somebody out there that know's member Hymerhobo or someone who knows something about his problem?

Did he solve his Ducato ECU problem back in sept. 2013?

I hope somebody can help me, please..

As a quick reply, sounds like a fuel related problem. Blocked filter or air getting in.
Your engine puzzles me, 2.5tdi with Bosch ECU. Not 2.8 one. suppose that's the 2.5 after the earlier mechanical injection one.

I dont think it is a mecanical fuelline problem.

I have changed filter and the Diesel tank with a new one. At same time I tryed to make pressure 24 hour on all pipes, without missing any pressure.

I feel confident that the problem is electrical!

As I wrote, it's various errors and it has an electric acelerator- it is not with wire!
The ECU box (Bosch nr.:0 281 001 224) is placed under the passenger seat and it has a big electrical plug with about 70 contacts. and it has a 3 plug for connection.

I am an 66 year old Bedford/ Wauxhall mecanic, now retired motorcycle mek./dealer.

The Ducato Bus is used for transporting my Classic motocross and Roadracing bikes around in DK and Europe, so I hope to get the vehicle fit for traveling in the spring:worship::worship:
