Anybody got a Panda with one of these things fitted?

Any pros/cons, reliability and if not did the dealer have a clue how to sort it

12 months with my Panda Dynamic and considering a Dual Logic for the next one.

thanks

Ian

Had 1 for a week n love it Duallogic 1.2 Dynamic Panda runs v well safe no worry bout clucth n changing gears is easy n fun Automatics as standard seem to be less desirable to be nicked i really like it go for it guys i dont think you'll be dissapointed

Dual Logic - Inherent Fault?

Considering a Dual Logic for my second Panda.

Does anybody know if the gearbox is the same as that used in the automatic seicento? If so looking at this catalogue of disasters I may stick to a normal manual.

Thanks

Yeah...really dig the Dualogic Panda.
But it shudders me imagining new Dualogic suffering constant hiccups or worst still, premature demise as the Sei's Citymatic did

The seicento citymatic (shudders) only had an actuator for the clutch, as you had to still manually select what gear you wanted.

The Dual-logic system is almost identical to the selespeed system used on the stilo abarth and Alfa's where there are several actuators/solonoids to operate the clutch and select gears.

The bonus thing about dual logic and selespeed systems is because the clutch is operated by solonoids/actuators they can move very quick compared with doing it with your foot and actually double clutch to allow better gear change.

Can anyone tell me how the Dualogic gearbox behave during a hill start?

Will the car roll backward due to the lack of clutch control?

On hill starts it behaves just like a manual i.e you need to use the handbrake, release it and press on the accelerator and away you go.

Having had a dualogic now for 3 months I can say it is a great system. You get none of the "creep" at lights you get with normal autos nor is it hell bent on changing into top gear like most autos. The fact that manual changes are available up or down on demand is nice too.

I would certainly say give one a try before buying a manual Panda.

Can you get dualogic on the 4x4? I ask as my parents who these days drive an auto (but have a full manual license) are interesting in a Panda 4x4 - Just because my Mum has seen adverts and they look easier to get into and out of!

I'm fairly sure the dualogic is not available on the 4 x 4 Panda.

However the Panda is an easy car for older people to get in and out of due to it being that bit higher than say a Fiesta or Corsa. My mother, two artificial hips and all, gets in and out of my Panda easily.

You seems to be well verse in the Panda Dualogic. Can I check with you if there is such thing as a 10,000 km run in period for the dualogic. Reason, I've just bought a Panda with dualogic and am now in my 500km. Feedback to my service centre that it jerks every now and then, even in manual or auto, tho it's not an issue but would be good if it's smoother. Was told that the jerkiness will more or less goes away and gear transmission much smoother afer 10,000km. Love the Panda driving feel and for a small cc car, it's rich in feature.

Mine was a little jerky for the first few days but I think that was more me being not used to driving a semi-automatic. I'm now at 2000 miles and changes are very smooth even manual down changes from 2 to 1 in slow traffic.

Despite being bit of a Ford fan (sorry everybody) I will happily admit the Fiat system is way ahead of the Fords, you get a horribly 'surge' from the ford semi auto boxes....honestly makes you feel sea-sick after a bit,but I have been unable to fault the Fiat system in any way so far!

Hi guys. re the new Panda with the auto option.
I had a 97 punto with cvt auto box. It was great, really smooth gear changes, and you couldn't hear the changes either. Refering to your hill start topic, the punto rolled as well, until you pushed the accelerator and away you went. the dual logic box sounds as if it works in much the same fashion. The only thing I would say I didn't like was the fact that the clutch disengaged from the drive when speed dropped down to around 10mph. This was ok when coming to a stop; if say coming up to a roundabout or junction at around this speed it disengaged and the car would be rolling freely, I would press the accelerator to go and for just a split second the engine would rev and then the clutch engaged with a slight lurch. It was this continual engaging and disengaging at an (what I consider) important speed that made me grow tired of driving the car and after about a year I changed to something else. I've also heard that its similar to Vauxhall's corsa easytronic system and that clutch failure or premature wearing out of the clutch on the corsa is common.

I've got a 1.2 Eleganza/Emotion with Dualogic and would recommend it to anyone! OK, so I've only had it for ~1500 miles, but no problems so far.

The system's brilliant. It has a semi-auto mode and two full-auto modes, ECO and not-ECO. I keep it in auto+ECO all the time, since the car will still respond to the stick, so right before taking over another car, just pull the lever and it'll drop a gear. I noticed that the car adapts to "hilly areas". Usually it changes gears before 2000RPM, but on a hill (and for some time after) it'll go up to >3000.

I have the hill holder (from VDC/ESP) so it doesn't roll back when driving off on a hill. I don't know what a Dualogic without HH would do.

Note that there have been some revisions to the Dualogic system. I think the current systems are much more reliable than the ones from 2003.

I don't know the details, but the Panda uses the system from the Alfas, it's using oil-pressure, whereas the Corsa uses electric servos like the ones used in aut. windows.
