they're all CAN faults relating to a bad communication between different ECUs.

NCM = Engine ECU
NBC = Body Computer
NGE = EPS ECU
NFR = ABS ECU

U1601 will be a general CAN Comms fault iirc

the other 3 will be failiue of comms between ECUs. the common denominator being the Body Computer. i wouldnt worry too much about any of them unless you're getting ENGINE,ABS, STEERING failiure or Loose Conection flicking up on the dash/cutting out. CAN is usually the first thing to be cut in low voltage situations such as cranking on a really cold morning or after the motor has been stood for a while. they can also be thrown if you stall it or turn the ignition on and off rapidly for whatever reason. theres all sorts of other reasons they MAY be thrown too, i just cant be bothered to list the most common.

CAN faults are notoriously hard to diagnose, especially if they're stored. Personally, I would delete them and not worry too much unless it affects vehicle performance or crops up repeatedly.

My can network doesent seem to be working thats the problem! I think it maybe fused! DO you have any idea as to which fuse it works off of??

Can network fuse

Can anyone tell e which fuse the CAN network works of off? My CAN has stopped working (since I messed around with putting a multi function wheel in the car). I have put my old wheel in but it is still not working so only thing I can think of now is the network is down as I am not getting any audio repeat on the dashboard from my connect nav.

Re: Can network fuse

If the CAN bus was down nothing would work. Likely a fuse as above or a poor connection.

when you installed the wheel did you proxi align? sounds to me like a 'recognition' error. if it doesnt know you've added a Node then it can play havoc with the rest of them.

i work with very clever CAN systems to the point where EVERY switch and sensor is on the CAN. if a even single switch hasnt been 'coded' into the relevent ECU it throws a 'switch/panel has become superfluous' fault! basically meaning 'i can see something is there but you haven't told me what it is, so i cant tell you if its working properly or not'

Made a little progress. I am convinced now that the clock spring is faulty so have started to put the car back to how was. The can lines are now working as I have audio repeat on my dashboard display. The old steering wheel ids back on but I am not getting asr and ebd failure . Gonna plug in multiscan on the morning as it is throwing it down at the moment .

I will post updates on how I am getting on.(y)

Right car back together everything working fine! Definately a faulty clock spring so i have pre wirex everything so when i eventually get another it will be easy to do. Thanks for all your input guys. Helped loads. :)
