Hi I’m new to the forums and wondering if anyone could help with my wife’s fiat 500 . Recently bought this as a cheap run around with a few issues to solve.
I’m after some light (no pun intended) on the wiring of the drl light and main beam unit. It appears that the drl aren’t wired in at all. The connectors have obvisouly previously corroded and someone has hard wired the main bulbs straight in but neglected the drl lights. I’d like to get them working so I can clear the warning on the dash. One side has a connector the other doesn’t. Neither side works . Neither side has a bulb holder. See the images. The connected looks damaged anyway. My thought was to chop off the connector and start the wiring a fresh seen as it looks damaged and there are no internal wires in the lamp unit itself. My really question is. .

How do I either ground out the drls so the dash error clears or
Looking at the image from eBay of the new bulb holder. What wired should go to what wires in relation to the back of the connector (also picured)?

Any help on this would be massively appreciated

If you can find a decent pair of bulb holders at the breakers, I would buy those. Get the breaker to chop off the connector with as much wire as he can and then splice the new connectors into your existing wiring with a spot of heat-shrink/proper connectors... otherwise look for new connectors that have the correct number of wires (seems like it should be 4?).

The DRLs should be accessed via a hatch in the wheel arch liner. You have the hole (first picture) but I can't see the hatch. The hatches are fairly loose fit and frequently don't get replaced properly and/or just fall out... but they're cheap to buy (they also don't fall out if you cable tie them in place) and keep all the crud off the connectors, so worth looking some up on fleabay.

See if you can get two broken complete DRL/headlight units from a breaker including the cable section and repair yours there's no harm leaving the main beam hard wired just get two bulb holders for the drl and cobble together as long as its water tight.
How did they get the cable into the unit? is the rear rubber cover there and the inner wing covers?

After an accident one of our DRL's was cracked on the rear and all of the brackets snapped off some clever Expoy'ing and bracing with scraps of metal and all good.
