hi all.got my driving test tomorrow.anyone got any tips or experiences to share.my bravo is sitting on the drive ready for lift off

First off, good luck with the test.

Do you have an hours lesson before, as that is a must ? Get that last bit of driving in.

Don't be too cautious, or be over cocky... they don't like that, and will probs fail you.

You're gonna be nervous, but try to stay calm all the way through.. gonna be hard, but try.

If you make a mistake (although not a huge one), carry on as normal, and don't let it get you down. Chances are you'll be ok.

I passed my test back in '93, and in my lesson beforehand, I couldn't get anything right... even started swearing at the instructor. After that he told me if everything I had to say was done, and promtly told me to go and pass my *u**ing test (those were his actual words). I passed..... :)

I done mine on the 3rd of may this year, Make all your mistakes in the hour before hand i did and passed:p although i swear i rolled back on my hill start, ahh well lucky 4 me my tester must've of been a dope:)

drive like you want to pass, not like you hope you pass.

good luck

I did mine a year ago, i was really nervous at first but I took an hour lesson beforehand, which calmed me abit.

My instructor was pretty decent, before we did anything he tried to get to know me abit first, and started chatting as though we had been mates for years. it really helped.

When i was doing the actual test, he carried on talking all the way through and it was fine. Passed it first time with 3 minors. :D

So just act normal (they expect nerves) and try your best. Just remember to forget about the points scoring system regarding old ladies and zimmer frames. Just for the test. It only lasts 15 minutes :) (well mine did)

"drive like you want to pass, not like you hope you pass."

Very good advice :)

Don't let your eyes be diverted to passing "talent". Keep them on the road to stay out of trouble! ^ ^

Set your rear view mirror at an angle where you HAVE to move your head slightly to see it. That way, the instructor can clearly see you using it.

I was told to over emphasise every time you look in a mirror, this way the instructor will not miss anything. I completely lost track between which way was left and which was right on my lesson! Good luck :)

i did my test about 2 years ago,when i was 25.
i had driven before on the roads since i was 15-16.i was pulled by the police in 2001 and given a 52day ban,and £600 fine..i didnt drive from the day i got stopped until the day i did my first lesson.i have no room to preach about illegal driving, but i learned my lesson and the feeling of driving legal is great.when i did my test i really wanted to pass.the freedom of being able to drive away in your own car,and not waiting for a bus, taxi.

good luck again and keep us posted..
plus pass your test and come to some meets..

The best advice I can give is, if you cock something up - correct it and continue - dont panic. I tried to come out of a roundabout in 3rd! After my test was finished the examiner said if I had panicked he would have failed me!

thanks for all your info and advice.im off to have a lesson before the test now.i will let you know how i got on later.im absolutely bricking it,stomach is in knots

I had to retake my test about 18 months after driving, and I remember swerving around a car that jammed on infront of me coming up to a set of traffic lights that were on green;

I quickly slapped my indicators on, checked mirrors and moved into the 2nd lane, and moved back as soon as I passed.

At the end of the test, the instructor asked if I had drove before, or if I had any driving experience in the past - I said no :)

He said he would of failed me if I braked behind the guy that jammed on :)

BOO HOO.SAD TO SAY I FAILED.I HAD TWO MAJORS WHICH WERE TOTAL ******** WHICH I DONT AGREE WITH.ONE OF THEM WAS PULLING FROM A SIDE STREET TO TURN RIGHT AND HE SAYS I FORCED SOMEONE TO BRAKE .THIS PERSON WAS ABOUT 60 FOOT AWAY,IF I HADNT PULLED OUT HE WOULD HAVE MARKED ME DOWN FOR HESITATION.THE GUY WAS A COMPLETE JERK WHO HAD LOST THE USE OF HIS TONGUE UNTIL IT CAME TO THE MOMENT OF TELLING ME MY ERRORS WHICH HE DID WITH GREAT JOY.I FEEL LIKE GIVING UP NOW AS I DONT FEEL I COULD HAVE DRIVEN BETTER.IF ANYONE WANTS TO BUY A BRAVO,44000 MILES,10 MONTHS MOT,8 MONTHS TAX,T REG,£1500 O.N.O. GET IN TOUCH.ITS IN EXCELLANT CONDITION.

Sorry about that gary But hey! you are not the first, Think about it for a moment. Ok you Drive well but look at it this way. The examiners cannot pass everyone. if they did there would be no reason to keep them, so they would become redundant. They have there quota of failures before they start work. you were just unlucky. How does he know that the car to you right had to brake? Just an excuse really to keep them in a job. Forget selling the car. It could be quite different next time.

Don't be stupid Gary, get back on that horse and try again!! Lol

It is just pot luck with some of the testers I'm afraid, so it's just one of those things.

Get and book it up again, you can only learn from your mistakes.

Chris

can i just say something mate, Before i took my driving test i got told that instructors are only allowed to pass 50% of pupils by day, and that to get your best chance of passing, you should have your test at the first booking time 8.40am, which i did.

I should have been failed on my test as i didnt use the bus lane when i should have done and got undertaken, but at the end of the test "he said if you had been undertaken you would have failed" which makes no sense cos i was undertaken, not like i was complaining.

But say your instructor had already passed half of his pupils that day, he could not pass you and would have made up some **** like he did to fail you!

Dont give up mate, lodas of people fail, and they say the best drivers always pass second time! ( i dont agree cos i passed first time, lol ;) )

Loads of people fail Gary, my missus has failed twice so far.

hi gary it taken me 4 times to pass mine also got canceled twice and turned up the wrong day once lol so stop bloody moaning and re-book
