Technical Drivers Door Lock

Having some problems with my drivers side door lock. It will not open from the inside and will only close when i'm sat inside and pull the inside door handle whilst closing. It opens fine from the outside. The central locking also works perfectly.

Took it to a local garage who say i need a new door lock which is expensive. Need a second opinion. I'm not convinced the whole lock is bust as it still works to an extent.

Any ideas or experienced this before?

I had the same problem with my passenger door all I did was take the door card off and had noticed that the cable had come uncliped. The cable gets pushed into this clip make sure its pushed right in follow the cable and you'll know what I mean. Its only about 10cm away from the handle.

Go in the grande punto guides section and there's a whole guide on how to fix the lock and there's a picture of the clip im on about its called a outer cable retainer. If its not that follow the guide.
