General Driver door handle

I have removed the drivers door handle for replacement. I temporarily hung the inner door card on the door during a break. The door accidently closed. The only access to the mechanism to open the door is now through the outer hole in the door. What do I do ?

I have removed the drivers door handle for replacement. I temporarily hung the inner door card on the door during a break. The door accidently closed. The only access to the mechanism to open the door is now through the outer hole in the door. What do I do ?

I would look at the old door handle to see which part connected to the internal lock in door and use a tool to activate the mechanism through the hole in the door assuming it is in the unlocked position.
