Hi there,

Had my fiat doblo 2006 cambelt and water pump change at 70000 miles.
2 days after my drive belt squeals and finally snappeswithin a week.
Went back to garage and they change it for me for free.
8 months later my drive belt squeals agaun and snappes within a few days.
I am not happy at all so i go back to the garage.
Their diagnosis is a failed pas pump pulley that has too much movement.
£400 as according to then pulley and pas come together. Ouch.
Since i have lost trust in them i want a second opinion.
I have an mot mecanic friend. According to him nothing wrong with pas pulley but tensioner was lcoked so he frees it and put new drive belt in.
Turn the engine on next day and car thows it off.
On the floor my friend finds the idler pulley. Seized with part of the bolt in it.
According to friend the idler pulley would have had to be removed to do the cambelt?
Could there be a link between issue with drive belt and cambelt change? According to garage no cos camblet is in a separate block.
Many thanks for your time.

Any idea anyone? Guess eveyone is busy with life.
I forgot to say it is a 1.9 jtd mjet.

Thanks. Ichecked and it seems that the idler pulley has to be removed but if someone could confirm please.
Went back to the garage and they refuse to take any responsability for it.
They are saying it is bad luck.
They are also claiming my pas pulley is probably responsible for serpentine belt idler pulley seizing.
I don't want to blame anyone but it is a bit of a coincidence to me that things started to go wrong after cambelt changed. One would think they would have checked all the bearings especially aftet drive belt failed after squealing.
I will go and see another garage for a second diagnosis.
Many thanks for your help.
Miss my fiat doblo. Panda is fun but so small. Lol.

In general: If a used (or even new) bearing has to withstand a higher initial tension than before (or required) it might give up quite soon.
