Tuning DPF deletion query?

You would have to physically remove the DPF. If you just tell the ECU to ignore it, regenerations will stop, the filter will block up, and performance will suffer.

I'm not sure your car has a DPF. I may be wrong but I was told that the 2.0 litre Sports had them but the 1.9s didn't. Like I say I may be misinformed but I was definitely told that.

If you have got one I think it needs cutting out and the ECU needs mapping to adjust the way the engine works to cpmpensate for it's loss. Also, check if removing it changes the emission count as you wouldn't want to fail an MOT would you?

I think its just the 1.6 and 2.0 M-jets that have the DPF.

Sounds like it. I've never seen a 1.9 16v with one.

What was their reasoning for it "might need replacing soon"? Is there something a miss that could be misinterpreted as a failing DPF?

Google Angel Tuning and drop them an e-mail they will point you in the right direction. I was quoted £400 for DPF removal and delete as well as a tune.

They may be talking about the EGR valve, but don't bother Jack, it was only replaced and brand new about four months before I sold you the car.

Garages, always trying to rip people off, grrrrrrr................

Too true Sav! It might well have been that they were talking about the EGR but as its been fitted fairly recently its not as if the car doesnt get driven so doubt its that.

They might mean the "Diesel Filter", and not the "Diesel Particulate Filter", and be too thick to know the difference.

No way, the diesel filter was also renewed when the EGR was............

If there's a problem with power at low revs, it's worth checking the EGR even it's been replaced. Sometimes it just fill up with crap extremely fast.
