I've seen several threads on renewing the door hinge pins - my doors usually need a couple of bangs to close properly so I've looking to replace mine. Most of the repair kits seem to be on the same lines as these from Ricambio i.e. a plain steel rod/dowel with a couple of nylon bushes. However, the rods don't have any lip or anything to stop them potentially slipping out of the bushes. I've seen people either welding them in place (but I don't have a welder) or bashing the top to stop slippage (which seems a it crude); the only place I've seen replacements which actually have a proper lip are these from Axel Gerstl. They are like fat nails with a flat head which would stop the rod slipping down. However, even though the items themselves are reasonably priced, they want an extortionate amount to send them to the UK.

So, just wondering if anyone knows of UK-based sources - if not, I have a friend who lives in Germany so I will ask him to get them and send them to me.

You are correct in thinking that the ORIGINAL pins were not a straight pin---they had a small washer 'lip' on one end (the top when fitted) to prevent the pin from dropping out. I would suggest that you get the pins from Ricambio, find a couple of SMALL washers and go to your nearest body shop (or exhaust workshop), explain the situation, and ask them to 'tig' the washers onto the end of the pins. If they are kind they might do it as a favour, if not, I expect the bill will be less than the carriage cost from Germany.
