switched on the laptop, dongle connected, then message says device not found, ran the repair network bit, came up with; contact the person who manages your network. why? the trouble shooter say the dongle is working,
so any idea`s? the dongle is a orange one.

Do the dongles have the drivers on them already, or do you need a setup disc?

Like above, restart machine without dongle in, wait for machine to be ready at the windows desktop, then plug the dongle in and see what happens.

1.) Plug it in
2.) Go to Device manager, find it in list, right click and left click Uninstall. Then go to Control panel, Add-Remove Programs and uninstall any software thats related to it (should be branded with Orange).
3.) Unplug it then Reboot PC
4.) Plug it in to a Different USB Port.

Most of them have a self mounting "virtual CD-ROM" which works similar to a USB Memory "Key". Plug it in and Voila it pops up as a drive and runs the Autorun.inf which then detects the presence of the drivers and if not found runs a driver installer.
