To be fair the Acer Ferrari range is a bit OTT for word processing at uni! Even if you're programming its a monster of a computer for doing that.

As far as I know it is one of the fastest laptops available using the latest/fastest mobile AMD processors and fastest mobile graphics cards. I wouldn't say no to one but can't afford any more PC's this year.

EDIT: It was the fastest available when I was looking for someone a few months ago.

It's far from the most powerful!

But I guess some people like having badged laptops in the same way as people will buy an ipod despite there being better and cheaper competitors.

i have done some re-designing to my laptop :D

do you like it? (y)

some peeps have too much spare time :p
and how small is ur laptop? ur badges take it over, lol

HellCat, if u like the laptop's i couild get you one on the cheap, less than 50% discount? if you want.. just gotta talk to few peeps.. dont gotta, just a gesture.

and people really need ot learn to leave jealousy out, they seem to be dissing it more than anything? if it wasnt jealousy it would be "Yeah, its an ok laptop but there are much better, such as...." not give elctures :p! but the fact is, i loved it, dont have it no more tho :(, got a more updated one.. but meh.. i HAVE to get new ones.. =/

But yeah, if you need one going cheap, msg me i cans ee what i can do. or maybe even a diff lappy.. depending on what i can get hold of.

Jealousy? My 6 month old £530 laptop would give very close results to the latest Ferrari laptop and my little portable celeron-M widescreen isn't meant to compete in performance but in other areas.

Dissing? No, criticism? Yes. It's why people create websites and review items. Dissing would be like saying "no it's **** cuz it's ferrari and not porsche and it's red why would you want a red laptop".

I could also criticise beau's laptop, they are heavy beasts as I found out when my friend passed me his to check his work and I nearly dropped it.

You tried carrying around a Vaio 17"? Its like a brick compared to the ACERs.

I'd love one of them. 50% off would be even better! But thats still 50% on so can't really afford one. Thanks very much for the offer. Maybe another time, so dont go falling out with your friends! ;)

Beau's is a Dell, I am guessing it weights in at 4.5kg or so but never checked it. I bet my old P4 laptop weighed about 3.5-4kg but I am used to lighter these days.

My current "big" one (15.4" widescreen 1.7 P-M) weighs 2.6kg which is why I bought my "little" one (12.1" widescreen, 1.3ghz Celeron-M) which is the same size as the 12" ibook and weights 1.6kg I think.

Then again, since most people don't move around with their laptops, weight and size means nothing, I only have the second one to throw into my bag.

FOr a desktop replacement it will be nice, my ltitle laptop has what is a X-black/X-brite screen and I agree that they are very nice.

Acer make a 17" laptop which is chunky too, as expected.

My current laptop (soon to be replaced again) is the
6.6 lbs, Intel Pentium M 1.6 GHz , 512 MB DDR SDRAM , 40 GB IDE , 15.4 in TFT active matrix , 1 Lithium ion , Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
(copied from dell site :p)
It's not the greatest, but one i have to test :0/

In the new year im getting the

"quoted" 'Lenovo ThinkPad Z60m With Pentium M 2.0GHz and ATI X600'

to test, that should be a little fun, i'll tell ya how it is.

We have plenty of Dell Latitiudes at work, all used day in, day out. Mine is just over a year old, and there are no signs of wear at all.

My office have used Dell for a couple of years, but have recently switched to HP. The Dell's take punishment well but they are just so  looking, I wouldn't have one no matter how good value they are.
