so here it is.
V plate, 1.6sx bravo. 47k miles on the clock.

dash dials work intermittently. sometimes they just dont. any thoughts?

fella has already had an auto-electrician check, who said his dials are fine, and suggested a power surge may be the problem?? Its the dash with the digital mileage readout he has.

any ideas folks? short of asking fiat for diagrams of all the wiring to test everything, dont know what to do...

i dont know the long term fix yet, but each time mine does it i have to take the dials out, dissconnect the plugs and the reconnect and they are sweet. not always practical i know, but thats my fix as i now carry the allen key with me!!!

dont you just love fiats?

yup! He said that every time it bets dsconnected, it works fine, then a couple of days later they stop again.... exactly as you said basically :(

hoping for a permanent fix though, lol

This is the exact same problem I am having at the moment.

I've had it to two different Auto Electricians and my local Mechanic, like the others say when it's disconected it works fine for a day or two when hooked back up.

My Mechanic now says he is going to Fax Fiat to ask them to Fax a wiring diagram to him so he can find out which wire/cable is causing the power surge.

Would be interested to hear if anyone has a solution.

It's a 1999 1.6.

Rab, welcome to FiatBOO ;)

I'm Ian btw, and thats your car i was asking about up top, lol.

Alright m8, did'nt realise it was you lol.

Here was me thinking it was an existing problem common among users, although you highlighting it shows it does occur.

Cheers for bringing it up.
