Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has seen this type of fault before:-

The engine management light does not go out when the ignition is switched on. The van will still start but run badly, with little throttle response.

If I then switch off and back on again the light goes out and van runs fine, no problem at all.

Next time it might do the same fault, or run fine.

Any Ideas?

Fiat have diagnosed a "posssible faulty fuel pump" however the van runs perfectly provided it started with the EML light out!!

Cheers,

Matt

Hi Rich,

Thanks for links - Have checked but it appears my Doblo's EML never comes again whilst driving. It runs perfect every time.

I have tried using an ELM323, which says there are no faults present. I've also tried a diagnosis when the EML light stays on at ignition time and the ELM323 software still reports that the EML is not lit and that no faults are present.

Is the ELM323 advanced enough to get all faults? It's just that a week before I had a diesel specialist say that there were problems listed on his scanner relating to "main relay". The guy did not give me a printout of the faults, and he says that they were not erased. But my ELM323 still reports no faults.

The fiat dealer says the fuel pump, however the van runs perfect - so I think that theory is suspect!

Any ideas??

Is it worth trying some different diagnostic hardware - FinAlist?

Cheers,

Matt

I've had the same problem. Wrote about it at:

It is better now, don't think doing 110mph was doing it any favours! I use diesel magic (a fuel cleaner thingy) every few months to try to keep carbon build up down as I think this was the problem. They told me fuel pump too, ages ago. If it was broken I'd have realised by now.
