Hi. Ordered 84T's online for my 1.3D instead of 88T's. Do you think it will be a problem? The max speed and load for these tyres is 118 mph with a max load per tyre of 500kg. But I rare drive above 70 (!). Any thoughts?
You should be ok with the load ratings and such, I have that load and speed rating on my front tyres, I think they'll probably wear quicker than ones with a higher load rating though as you'll be running them at near maximum weight with a fully laden car.
Welcome to the forum by the way what Doblo do you drive?
Thanks Ozzie. My car is never fully laden. Maximum people in it usually 3 and only two go off at a time on holidays, packing camping gear. So should be ok, right?
Yeah you should be ok, I have mine about three quarters laden half the time and I've done about 1000 miles so far since I had it and they still haven't seemed to have gone down.
I think if I do replace them, I might look into ones with a higher load rating, but they're probably a bit more expensive
I'd check what is specified in the handbook for your model before changing to a tyre of a lesser spec. Insurance companies tosser::tosser love looking for way of not paying out and if your car/van had 'incorrect' tyres fitted I am sure they would use it to their advantage.
The tyres on my wifes Cargo JTD SX are reinforced and specified to run at 40psi front/50psi rear even when empty. They seem somewhat noisey. I'd love to fit 'car spec' tyres and run them at lower pressures as at the moment the van does about 500miles a day carrying at most a 20Kg load. The handbook is quite specific about the tyres so I guess it'll stay on the 'rings of concrete'.
One up side is that they seem to last forever - 50,000+ miles on the front, old age on the back.
Out of intrest, what make and type are the tyres? I think I would consider changing to these when I change mine for the fact they last forever and I carry about 5 passengers most of the time and if not a 100kg load, my rears are coming to the end of their life so reinforced would be better.
The musics on loud enough so I shouldn't hear the extra noise
I find that the grip during breaking in the wet is fine as theres plenty of weight putting pressure on the front tyres. But as you say not much grip, especially in the wet accelerating uphill with a load in the back, I've spun loads of times lately, even without a load on in the wet! And for the book I'm not heavy with my right foot either
