hi im from the uno section bu tmy next car is gonna be a punto GT and i was just wondering do they do a new punto thats a GT? or did they make one thats just as fast or faster in the 1.8HGT version thanks for any info on this :D

gotta love the uno's

The 1.8 16-valve HGT motor has slightly less top-end power than the 1.4 turbo GT unit (which is basically the Mk2 Uno Turbo motor), and of course being a larger engine it's heavier too. The Mk2 Punto is also a slightly heavier car than the Mk1, so the lighter and more powerful GT will quite comfortably out-accelarate the HGT.
But the HGT lump is a far less stressed engine than the 1.4 turbo and therefore it's less likely to blow up! ;)

Cars are getting slower alright. An Uno Turbo creams a Punto GT that creams a Punto HGT!

But yes they are getting more reliable!

I'd take a Mk1 GT over an HGT or an Uno Turbo - the HGT's too slow and it's near impossible to find a good, rot-free Uno these days. And crashing an Uno at 130mph does not bear thinking about!

Yes, in spite of increased weight and a little less power it's still got to be the HGT. Comfort, safety, refinement.. well it goes on:)

Wish it had 170 horses though [8D]

This is all irrelevent as I can't afford it anyway of course:)

Did they ever make the HGT in the Mk1?

Then the GT gets my vote, just because I prefer the looks of the Mk1! :D
