Do so many Panda threads need to be closed and relocated?
For example Rick's Road rat build thread. It's full of technical stuff that's more relevant to the main Panda section. I thought the MM bit was better suited to show off finished cars? Build threads are some of the more interesting threads on here and I for one won't see them on the MM bit as all the models are muddled together and I don't want to look through a list of Multiplas and Stilos to find the odd Panda Gem.
I don't think anyone objects to threads like that here and I don't think they belong elsewhere anyway?
Is it just me? If so i'll survive but it seems like some interesting topics are being lost to the depths of the FF.

Nope your not the only one. I and alot of other feel the same and have tried mentioning this before. But a few Classic Panda members don't our Classic Panda section was, and thus these things get moved :(

I assume the idea is to keep all relevant build info. for one particular car in the same place. That way it makes for a far more comprehensive thread for that vehicle rather than having threads strewn all over the place that eventually disappear into the archives. Multiple threads also makes it much harder to find older threads on a particular car, whereas if they were kept in one place then it would be more useful to everyone. A good case in point would be the Crashtest Camel Panda. So many individual threads were created detailing the build process that to go back and try and find them all would be a real headache. Now, if all the posts had been put into one members motors thread it would be far easier for everyone to read and a lot more useful for everyone, especially newcomers, wishing to go back and read all about it.

Perhaps update the individuall members motor thread and then post a link in the general Panda section? That way the technical information can be updated and discussions maybe kept to general forum area :)

I totally agree nitro.

no offence to Rick, but i thought how many other FF members, with out pandas really give a toss? probably a handfull?

It is all tech stuff we enjoy, but not many others will in MM and people interested in the car will visit this section time to time to see if there are any updates.

in all fairness, if you search threads by Crashtest, then you get all his build ones, thats all he's ever posted!

Unless people know about the car how will they know to look for updates? And how can they tell that an individual thread in the Panda section is specific to a certain build rather than just a general topic? For those in the know it may work as it used to but for those outside the Panda section, including newbies and potential classic Panda owners, it's a lot harder to find out what's going on and who owns which vehicle and is doing what with it. You may be surprised at just how many people outside the Panda section DO take an interest in other models of Fiats and in particular people building/ modifying a project.

That's an individual case scenario though and applies only to a very few minority cases. The point still stands that it would be so much easier for everyone if he put all his updates into the same thread. It would also make that thread a damn good read as he's done some superb work on that car, but many users won't think to use the 'search' function or will get tired of having to click through individual threads.

Think of it like having a book where all the chapters were scattered amongst other pieces of literature. Putting all the chapters in one place would make sense wouldn't it? Especially for newbies who weren't around on the forum when the individual threads were first posted. It really isn't hard to just update your own members motor thread specific to your car and then post a link to it in the general Panda section.

C'mon guys and girls, look at the bigger picture here!

Completly understand your view chas, just annoying it happens so often.

Well, if people updated their own members motors thread as per requirements then the threads wouldn't need to be relocated ;)

There are other sections where this isn't happening, just seems because we were one of the groups out of line to begin with, were being sharpened up and others are getting away

That's because you have GOOD mods doing their job of maintaining the classic Panda section! It's for the benefit of everyone in the long run so think of the Classic Panda section setting an example that others need to follow :)

What about bits that are relavent and being move incorrectly

The above thread was even questioned about its move, but the questions went ignored :bang:

And possibly depending upon how you look at it as its more technical based;

https://www.fiatforum.com/members-motors/199221-my-1986-panda-1301-cc-diesel.html

First link:

The initial post was confusing and looked like it was talking about a 2001 Panda. Only after being moved was it made apparent that it was enquiring about fitting a 2001 engine into a classic Panda, so it was a genuine mistake by a mod. Now, did any of you directly report this post to the mod team to ask them to move it back?

Second link:

This was an introduction to the forum and was specific to that member's vehicle including the pictures. Hence being moved to the member's motors section, because the thread was about the, erm, member's motor...

When were the New Panda's made from  2003 ;)

A 2001 Panda IS a Classic Panda (y)

Not in the UK and certainly never in 2001 MPi guise it isn't, and remember that not everyone is as clued up about the international Panda models as you are. Hence it being a genuine mistake by the mod. Now, did you report the post using the 'report' button after it was moved to bring it to their attention?

Thats only because they stopped importing them in 1995. Up until 2003 the Classic Panda was made and sold in the majority of europe, and this is common knowledge by most in this section.

It's even here
