Hello

I'm looking to have a towbar fitted to my 2002 Multi.

Does anyone have any experience of fitting these themselves, or is this a job best left to a 'professional'?

There seems to be plenty available, but they come in different designs. Can anyone reccommend a particular model/supplier?

Also, does anyone know if the wiring is already present, or will I have to chop into the loom?

Thanks

Pete

I had a Towsure towbar fitted to my Multipla by a local towbar specialist. It was considerably cheaper than other makes of bar and including the electrics and bump plate came to about £150 fitted. However, you may find that you require a heavier type of towbar if you intend to tow a horsebox or something like that. I tow a 14' caravan, and the Towsure bar is fine for that use.

I've also fitted towbars myself to other cars, and considering the skinned knuckles and general b*ggeration, paying £150 to have the thing supplied and fitted seems worthwhile.

It also makes fitting much, much easier if you have access to a four post lift. Most folk don't!

Take a look at Towsure.co.uk and have a look at their catalogue and prices.
