I have a 78 124 spider, and it wont run, i have diagnosed it to the ignition system, the coil is supplying the power to the distributer, but only one of the two seperating metal parts has fire, i just replaced the conducer for that side, still nothing? anyone have a clue?

what is a separating metal part? are you referring to the points? 1978 came stock with two sets of points, one for idle and one for running. only one set of points will be used at a time.

ok, yes sorry, there are two points sets, when the ignition was on, the point set that is closer to the firewall has spark or jump if you will, and the points closer to the front of the car did not.i regapped the points to about .40. also there is an electrical problem stemming from the battery, for now there is no power being sent to the coil.

no power at the coil is an indication of a short between the coil and the ignition switch, or a failure of the large white connector behind the ignition switch.

the pink wire is the one you are concerned about.
