Well having just had the top end of my engine rebuilt ( marea TD100)( see earlier posting re the fanbelt shredding and getting caught in the cam belt) at a cost of a pint under a thousand pounds ,Im now looking at the diesel heater coil light flashing for about 15 seconds after the engine has started before it finally goes off . can anyone( tom I suppose - thanks in advance ,matey) advise what is causing this - is it linked to what the garage have just done - and is it causing any harm to the engine??

thanks again.

Hi, Dave
From the handbook:- Only on TD 100-JTD 105 versions. This warning light is also has a diagnostic function for the pre-heating system. If the light flashes for more than 60secs after start-up or during a continuous attempt to start the engine it means there is a problem in the glow-plug system.

If the engine can be started, the car can be used as normal but get it seen to a.s.a.p. at the legendary Fiat dealer.

Cheers

Pete

P.S. You can run as long as you like, it only affects starting. I've run diesels for15 years, and this occasionally happens. It sometimes rights itself.
