fiat multipla diesel, was good running order about 6 months ago but sitting on drive since then. Will not turn over (even with jump leads, tho battery is OK I think & just recharged). Sort of does (sounds like) half a turn then nothing. Same with jump leads. Have tried push-starting a few times (after heating coils a few times), and engine will turn over so engine not totally jammed, but didn't start (though quickly ran out of volunteers to push ie kids as no slope or tow available !).
Any ideas gratefully received .....
Also, if needs getting to a garage, suggestions for honest competent garage in Aberdeen area ?

Thanks, will try tomorrow ... But wondered if seized alternator wouldn't have stopped engine turning when (attempting) push starting ? Or would belt just slip ?
Cheers, David

Hi,
probably lost a cell in battery if it's been stood for 6 months,

I had this with a FIAT diesel parked up on hols for a week,
in + out everyday getting "stuff" so lots of drain on battery,
wouldn't jump = as there was only 10V on the battery,
went perfectly with a tow, :)

if you can push it over - I doubt if it's a mechanical fault..,
( there have been alternator faults reported ;))

try putting a donor battery in there,

ANY good 12V car battery should flick it over a few times = enough to start (y),
