Diesel Alternator in HLX?

I am going to purchase an Optima Deep Cycle battery in January when the good old student loan comes in and wanted to know whether or not the Diesel (JTD) Bravo's alternator would fit straight into my 1.8 HLX? I assume it's 'uprated' compared to the standard one I have fitted at the moment?
I want to do these two things in order to deal with my demanding sound system.
Whilst I'm at it do you think it's worth me getting the starter motor out of the JTD aswell?

why would you need the starter motor?
Also, do you have a MASSIVE install, because a yellowtop is oretty heavy duty. my system only runs 750watts, but i have a few other little things too. I bought a Bosch silvertop which has given me no problems at all in the year that i've had it. its about £50 for one which is substantially less than an optima battery...

You say you have a HLX, do you have aircon? (If so your alt will be pretty heavy duty anyway).

You would be better off doing the 'Big 3'.

I dont 'need' the starter motor as such, just thought why not get that too if it's a bit more heavy duty. My install is all together 980W RMS. Nothing heavy it's just I've had my bosh silvertop for a year and a half now and I think it's time I get a new battery, only the best for my baby! Dont like to cut corners anywhere and I consider the battery to be quite an important part of my setup. What are your thoughts?

Daz whats the 'big 3' may I ask?

Just to add I do not have aircon no. Is the alternator from the JTD 'uprated' compared to mine? Will it fit straight on without problems, i.e. space / bracket problems...

If you've not killed the silver top then you don't need a bigger alternator. An optima is no bigger capacity than a silver top and puts no more load on your alt.

I also doubt the JTD one would be a straight swap.

Also what do you mean by 'uprated'? I assume you mean higher current capacity.

@Daz, yes i have aircon.

not sure what the big 3 is myself, though i suspect the alternator earth is one of them?

The big three are...

Engine Block to Chassis (Earth)
Alt to Battery (+)
Battery (-) to Chassis (Earth)

Keep them all as short as possible.

@buzz.... you already have an uprated alternator (apparently) fitted by the previous owner, dont know where its from, the jtd would make sense...

Back in love with the HGT so she is staying :) (for now)

The 1.8 has a alternator that suplyes standard 75A, (max 85A), the JTD has the standard output 100A and the max is the same. But I think you wont be able to just put it in.
