My dealer has four 1.4 Sports as courtesy cars but I always seem to end up with a Clio as everyone wants them, especially the Renault and Peugeot customers whose cars are in for servicing/repair.

Well I was going to try out their courtesy car service but mum has now offered to pick me up from the garage!

I had a lovely new black 500 when my car had to go back in 3 days after getting it from the dealer - guess I was lucky (or could have been that i'm a blonde woman and the bloke was a sucker for a bit of feminine charm?!?!?)

Well this sucks... Part still not arrived, not "scheduled" to be fitted until Thursday anyway.

That's 1 week's ownership = 1 day driving, at the best.

Anybody who thinks that's reasonable might as well write "welcome" on their back.

Up to which point can a new car be rejected?

Cars can be rejected after months.
Upto you to prove they are not able to fix it first though.

Jim, please don't take this as gospel but AFAIK you need to allow the dealer to attempt to repair the fault (possibly up to three times) and if this fails I believe you can legally start proceedings to reject the car.

Try trading standards for clarification but hopefully it will not come to this.

You've got a loan car; it will be sorted before too long; stop getting stressed.

They have to have three goes at fixing it before you can reject it; but what you are in danger of doing is making the dealer hate you for being so unreasonable, when all they are doing is trying to fix it for you.

A sense of proportion would be useful here.

Ditto.

I had my car for 1.5 days, then I didn't get it back for 5 days .... I didn't mind as I knew it was coming back eventually - try to chill out a bit, I know it must be hard as you have been anticipating your new car for ages, but it will be okay in the end.

EDIT : have no idea why I put "3 days" in an earlier post - I got it on the sat lunchtime and it went back to the dealer on the monday morning! Blonde moment!

Well you had the car on Saturday, Sunday and Monday that's three days! ;)

Jim I think you have just been extremely unlucky :( have to say it's nearly a year since I bought my 1.2 Lounge and I've only had a minor problem with the memory stick/stereo (touch wood) and that has now been sorted out - and very quickly I have to add :D

Other than that I havent had any problems (y)

See what it's like once it is fixed, if you still have problems maybe you should change your car  would be a great shame as when they are running without a hitch they really are a great little car :)

I am currently driving a Grande Punto C/Car and at first was very disappointed with it, but it has grown on me and now i dont want to give it back (mind you I want my panda back as well lol). Give the GP a chance, they arent a bad car and better than plenty of courtesy cars.

Could be worse, when we left in our Honda Concerto 1.6i a number of years ago we got handed the keys to a 1 litre polo which couldnt even reverse up a curb!!!!!!!

The dealer has made a step into our good books again, as they have swapped the Punto for a demo 500.

...which is a good thing as they now say they're not getting the part until Friday.

Thats good, at least they're trying :)

...as a result of me giving them some ear-ache down the phone. They didn't exactly offer it under their own initiative, unfortunately. I told them that we wanted a 500 as a courtesy car, as that's what we paid for, and we have yet to keep.

Jim, I think if you go on giving them earache when they've given you a courtesy car you run the risk of alienating them. If it were me I'd be happy just to have a courtesy car.

There is a software update for this fault. But this should of been done by importer at the docks. As for the dealer has he arranged a booking at your convience. And if you find you still have issues, you can all ways contact customer services at fiat uk.
As for the valete, you should of recieved a PDI sheet detailing a tick sheet. And one of the boxes is removal of transport protection. A little ear bending is needed.
And your warrenty is a pan european warrenty. So go were you want within the Fiat network.
