Hello, my girlfriend was recently in an accident and, unfortunately, her car was written off. Diamond, however, have said they won't release any payout unless another car is put on policy with them.

Can they do this?

No they can't! If they announce it a write off, they have to pay out for the pre-accident value of the vehicle. Report it to the financial regulators!
