General diagnostics....

General diagnostics....

Stilo has a new type of airbag system. Its semi intelligent, if a previous fault does not occur during its boot up stage, then the system is re-activated (dependant on which fault it is, some errors wont let the ecu re-activate the system). The errors are still held in the ecu and can still be read using examiner, but the lights are out and everything would work in an accident.

I would definately recommend the AA over RAC. They are slightly more expensive (but whats £10 a year difference), but when you need them they never fail. Probably because they have a fairly standard fleet of vans which presuamably carry the same equipment, unlike the RAC who have various types and sizes of van. I mean its hard to take them seriously if they show up in a Ford Escort van these days!

Can't comment on AA.
But when the Stilo started acting up the other week, low power, rough running. I phoned RAC and they came along and diagnosed coil on 3 cylinder. Changed it next day and fine since. They arrived at my mates house (cos I don't have home start) within 5 minutes of their original estimate. He followed me home to reset the ECU after driving it. He even plugged into my Vectra to see if any faults were logged on that as well.

Couldn't fault the service at all.

hey

Sorry, i know these questions are a bit of the track of the current discussion but i did not wanna start a new thread! I have a couple of quick questions - One of them is really dumb - wheres the obd-2 connection of a 1.8 stilo dynamic?(i thought i would ask u guys instead of wasting time looking it and missing it.) and secondly can you get any free diagnoistic software u can download for the old t'internet (legal/or otherwise
:D)

thanks (y)
