Hi guys. First post here so just a quick intro: Located in Norway, car is a Ducato 2012 3.0l 156 hp camper van, Knaus Boxstar.

The whole situation started when I wanted to investigate a bit around a glow plug error (light flashing after start). Ordered a new relay and before I changed that, I disconnected the negative connection on the battery.

Changed the relay and put battery back on. Glow plug light still flashing but noticed also airbag light was on in the dash.

Plugged in my Icarsoft scanner to check but could not reach any other modules than the engine ECU. No airbag, no body modules, nothing.

Ok, believed my scanner was not good enough so after consulting this forum and others, I purchased the Vgate Vlinker MS and licenced MultiEcuScan.

Hooked up my computer, still nothing except engine ECU. Also tried AlfaOBD on my phone, same result.

Car starts and runs without any issues so this puzzles me and annoys me big time. Consider myself pretty handy around cars but have not experienced this kind of problem before.

I do realize that I might have broken the airbag ecu by not waiting long enough to let modules go to sleep before disconnecting battery but not being able to connect to any modules is just strange. Vlinker MS should be able to multiplex without any converter cables if I read correctly.

Used airbag module with same part number is on the way but I fear it might be an issue if I cannot program it to the car by proxy alignment.

Any suggestions where to start faultfinding?

I know for sure you can disconnect quickly without harming anything. I have a few motorhomes that I work on that have an isolation switch fitted at the bottom of centre console. We shut the engine down, lock doors with remote then turn isolator that cuts Negative. This would take approx 15 seconds total.

My connection for 2012 to 2014
I use the Red OBDLink SX cable for Body Computer
I add the yellow adaptor cable for the engine & gearbox modules.
Earlier models 2007 to early 2012 Red cable connects to all modules.

I don't think that can connect to other module than engine ECU.

Vgate vLinker MS/Multiecuscan is a special multiplexed interface that can connect to newer CAN-only vehicles without the need of additional adapter cables. It is the only supported Bluetooth interface that can reliably perform PROXI alignment and other special procedures.

Yes that was my belief as well, should come up with all modules without adapter cables. Also tried an Xtools diagnostic tablet with same result. Just very weird that I cannot get to any other modules than the ECU. Should at least get a reply from the body module and perhaps others. Seems like some disturbance on the CAN bus, but then again, would assume ECU would flag CAN bus error if that was the case. Only consistent error is the glow plug P0683.

Yes. But it definitely doesn't say which module it can connect to.
