Put like that it is pretty pants... oh well, what can I do, they have 1k of my money and I want my 500 exactly as I specced, so I shall just have to enjoy my Panda and Passat

I have ordered on 29th Feb, was told that it will be July, but it was later revised as end of June. Hearing all the scary stories of people ordering early and getting their cars very late (or never! ) I jumped the gun and got one from stock (lost deposit but got some mats and much cheaper service, so not too bad ). The only thing that was on my original order but not on the car from stock is ESP, and I can live without that. Now I have it, I'm glad that I didn't wait as it is a marvelous drive and summer is just around the corner!!

I hope mine arrives at least by June... Im not prepared to lose 1k I reckon dealer just lied about April to get my cash eh! Im sure its worth waiting, shame Im actually paying the loan off now... so far spent £1000 on deposit and £620 on loan and £250 for 500 plate.... thats near 2k and nothing to show for it LOL!

our dealer has loaned us a 57plate panda off the forecourt til our 500 arrives early may(9 weeks in total) cos we sold our 2nd car (alfa 147) privately! What a service! J&J Motors carmarthenshire south-west wales. If you're thinking of ordering give them a shout!

My dude got in touch earlier today to say it's in the country but he doesn't know when it'll be at the dealers. He said they're gonna iron out some probs with it at the docks before sending it up to Edinburgh...makes me think a big wave hit the tanker and everyones nearside doors are dented lol.
A well, was hoping to have it by my birthday yesterday but looks like another couple of weeks wait.

Oh, what sort of problems are they? I had my new Panda "ironed" out at the docks and they totally ruined the paint, overspray and runs all over it
Be sure to throughly check it over before you sign for it, hope its nothing too serious.

Registering a new car makes it count towards sales target, not ordering it.
but surely if they put you'r order off a month the car gets registered a month later adding to that months target ??

He couldn't or wouldn't say, just that probs will be ironed out at docks...sounds ominous, I will really be checking very carefully before I sign for delivery... I really don't wanna be constantly taking the car back to the dealers over the next 3 or so years!
There isn't a garage in the country that will put off orders that they can deal with sooner. Most likely option is they have filled their build allocation and can't place more orders for a period.
Thats what I understand happened to me. Place order my order in Dec but nothing happened untill the dealer had new allocation. In the end it took 17wks from order to delivery.
Car is now sitting at the dealers and Im waiting for the call to pick it up.
After changing the colour on the original order (white to yellow) the build date has been put back to late June - bummer. So it looks like a late July- mid August delivery. Julie at Piccadilly in Wakefield did say that the build dates do jump around so there is a chance it might come forward a couple of weeks.

I was trying to think of the problems Fiat might have with the the option system and a "just in time" method of production. The engines and the body (painting etc.) are under their control but what about other items. We have ordered Black leather seats, the ESP option, the auto dipping mirror and the climate A/C.
I suppose the leather seat option could screw up the delivery or maybe the go-faster black stripes below the windows.
