Hell i would! Has no one ever heard of paper and comb????

Disclaimer: Any incorrect lexicography or grammar is entirely the fault of your eyes

ok i might consider the tissuepaper and a comb

infact if i had a pair of 6X9's i might use the paper cone for that purpose

and maybe the magnet to stick things to my fridge

just use the magnet to stickthe 6x9 to your fridge, lets be honest who wants decent quality audio in your kitchen!

i think i wud feel better if id used the cone as a comb and paper instrument as this wud mean i hav destructed the 6X9 entire ending is sordid life as a 'ahem' speaker

6x9's by design are basically crap. There's no logic to them for the quality of sound reproduction.

That and the fact that I don't have a parcel shelf to put them on :p

Personally, i dont hate, nor love the 6x9. I'd rather have a set of 6x9s then no speakers at all, so at least i get music on the go. Upgrade to components? Rather spend the money on a new car thanks :)

Another day...another problem...

well its a toss up init if u hadnt bought the 6X9's ud already b half the way to the components and much better sound. and i think..... thats my point 6X9's r OK but thats all and u cant rave about them like many do.
how many sound company concept cars do u see with a pair of 6X9's on the parcel shelf???!? lol if i saw the alpine Civic wiv 6X9's in it i think i wud pack up my bags and call for a taxi

6x9's aren't bad. They're not as high-quality as a good set of components but they do a decent job of making reasonable bass without a sub. They're popular because they're cheap, loud and sound much better than most other sub-£50 speakers. I really miss my 6x9's which got nicked by some b***ard scally [:(!]
Motor World are doing 6.5" JBL components for £50, might have to treat the Punto...

If i was to put some £50 components up against a £300 pair of 6x9s i know what i'd take ;)

And i never brought my 6x9s either, they came with the car |)

Another day...another problem...

And another thing, half way towards components if i hadn't got 6x9s? As 6x9s replicate bass, mid and treble, to get a component set-up equal to that, i'd need components up front, and a sub in the boot. Then amps...then leads...

Suddenly the half way to a component set-up seems miles away.....

Another day...another problem...

Yes I agree with what yure saying..I do have a set of 6x9s, and they re good enough for me- bass is filtered out and dealt with by the sub and amp in the boot... But the thing is..I cant find a place to install a component set and get the equivalent sound quality without hacking out the side pods in the back..

I'd say the 6x9s are the easiest option for fitting, overall sound quality for price... If i could a) be arsed to fit components or b) be arsed to find a place to put another amp, I would...

But frankly I cant. I like the sound I've got, all I need is a new Sub to replace my w**k Xplod one- Ive found that it really is s**te!!!

Another thing, with a good tidy install, all the wiring can be kept out of the way, so stuff can just be slung in and sound is unaffected...

I think we have all made it clear that if you like 6x9's then good luck to you. If, on the other hand, you prefer not to use 6x9's then good luck to you too.

It's all about personal preference, some people may say that (without trying to say 6x9's are bad in any way) they are'nt as bothered about sound quality so they went for the easiest to install.

Instead of saying that 6x9's are s**te. Full Stop. Why not try to see the other persons situation, preference and point of view. That way you can offer the best possible advice based on a combination of your experience and the other persons requirements.

sounds like your sitting on the fence matt!

the main reason i dislike 6x9's with a passion is beacuse as mckrob said, they try to replicate bass, mid and treble, and physics dictates that one speaker cannot achieve this(well, not very well!)
also, quoted from www.talkaudio.co.uk

"the oval speaker has a less rigid cone so for a cheaper speaker you are likely to get more cone break up (the cone actually distorting in shape as it plays) with an oval speaker than a round speaker."

my advice to anybody is to visit www.talkaudio.co.uk, do a search for 6x9 and have a read.

in other words they are cack

u can get either an allrounder which is cheap BUT CACK

or u can get individual treble and bass playing speakers which play both well for a bit more doh

it gets stupid when u spend 60 pounds on a pair of 6X9's as for the same amount of cash u cud hav got components which are much more flexible.

if trebble is weak on a set of components upgrade the tweeter

if the trebble is weak on a 6X9 which it probably will be then u might as well put a screwdriver through the cone
