Technical Dead Temperature Guage

I've tried doing a search, but not found anything on this.

Started two of the sitting fleet today. The 1000CL and my Selecta. All is well apart from two problems with my Selecta. One is just the HT leads arching so I'm going to get some new ones, and the other problem it the temperature guage on the dash cluster. It's not reading anything.

Were in the engine bay is it connected? It is the one a the top left (back) for the engine (when looking at it) isn't it? I've had a look and it all seems on, clean, and connected. So what else could it be

Had this problem with one of mine after it had been standing for a while. On the second day of use the guage began to work again. This has happened on more than one occasion and the guage is still working now.

Not saying that this is your problem but worth considering.

Many thanks. Think this has happened on the 750L before. I was just conceious, as I wanted to let the coolant fan kick in, but didn't want her over heating either (don't trust the fan on it to kick in)

Flick the dash nearest the gauge really hard. Works for sticky needles and is a must on my 850 when not in regular use.

Hi Jon, greetings from Belgrade,

Temp sender is on the left back side, (near cambelt cover) and its negativ temperature resistor type, with earth pole on the body of sender, and out-signal on his only one connector for wire. First check sender and connector with multimeter, or simply with some bulb with wires, sender should have out (minus) signal all the time (with more or less resistance). If sender is OK, you should check connector on the back of dashboard (its easy to disassemble) and conectors of the gauge itself been connected to the dash-plastic card with copper leads. Gauge is Veglia-Borleti (Ferrari and Lamborgini default) so dont even think that gauge is faulty anyway....

Can vouch for this on my old 750 - temp guage and fuel guage. They both worked again with regular use.

or....at the risk of stating the too obvious....it is really cold at the moment. maybe the guage is right and it's just taking forever to warm up!

I would agree, but can guarentie that it did get up to temp, I burnt myself
