Right so my sister has a 1.6 16v stilo. It has been left on her drive for a while and now wont start. The central locking doesnt work now and the car wont start even with a jump start. Is this just a case of a dead battery and is there a particular way of jumping these cars. She thinks it wont start due to the immobiliser still being on because she has t open it with a key and not from the fob

Always in this case, you need to start with the battery. Take it out and leave it to charge overnight and then try it out. If no luck, take it to be tested. Without a strong battery, you will have endless problems.....good luck.

To jump start a car you must connect the cables in a certain way; positive to positive terminals of the battery on both cars. Negative terminal on donor (good) battery to an earthing point on body or engine of the car with the dead battery. Start the car with the good battery and leave the engine at fast tickover before trying to start the dead car.
