The good thing about Computers, Chat Rooms, Text Messaging and other typed in communication tools are that if you think something you can take a couple minutes to rephrase it in your head and never actually have to type in on screen and let everyone know how filthy your mind is. Tis greeet :D

1. you must at all time have a spare fob.

2. never have the two fobs in the car at one time

3. if traveling it can be advised to keep the spare on you some where, ie not in a bag or jacket as these can be left in car but on your person.

4. if the fob is locked inside get the spare.

5. some people advise having a popper button somewhere on the vehicle for safety however this can leave the vehicle in danger of being easily broken into as thieves are aware of areas where buttons can be put no matter how ingenious you think your idea is.

6. never leave the car running or the keys in the ignition, as if the door gets closed by accident the spare fob will be unable to open it.

7. always go for the more expensive option of having both doors on poppers because if one fails you always have back up.

9. never leave both fobs with another driver if you are letting someone borrow your car or is in a garage etc as they will not be aware of the severity of closing the door.

8.be prepared that one day you may have to break your window

9. never leave car in freezing temps coz ul never get in!

I thought part of the MOT and vehicle construction regs was that you must be able to access the car via handles from the outside. If you take a car for a MOT and the door handles don't work, it will fail. Happened to my brother.

Only if they are presant do they have to work. Same as lights - if you remove all the lights from your car and fill in the holes for them, remove the wiring and the controls, then they are not going to fail your mot! It's an odd world this MOT malarky - if its there it has to work, if it isn't it doesn't matter!

I took the interior door handle off my cinqy to be told it couldn't pass an MOT - but this was I believe because it left no way to open the door from the inside.

Did it cos the little nipper kept leaning over in his baby seat and opening the door on the move!

Thats what those Child locks are for, still can't open from the inside but hey its legal and safe right :)

With the MOT light thing all cars made after a certain date HAVE to be fitted with Lights.

Any vehilce that does not comply would be in breach of construction and use.

Further more all vehicles that would legally be allowed to drive without lights would not be allowed to drive at night.

Unless it has been added to legislation I heard that they were planning to outlaw de-handling. I was advised by a friendly officer that even if they don't its not a wise idea to do it:

"why not?" I said.

"well if you had a crash.... and the car was on fire..... upside down.... in a ditch... and you had messed your boxers, how would the fire brigade open your door to release you?" the officer said.

"well if I had messed me boxers maybe I'd rather stay in the car and go home later when the crowed dispersed" I replied

on a serious note if for some reason rescue teams cannot open the doors in case of an accident and you have to be chopped out there is always the possibility that you might also have a limb chopped through/off in the process or you may burn alive while they are trying to unbelt you from the window when it would have been way easier for them the open the door and on top of that if it were a minor accident but you hurt your arms and couldn't open the door then a window would have to be smashed and that could have been avoided if you had door handles.

I was considering it because Tipo door handles are gay but I'd rather change them to different handles... nothing to do with the above as that warning never phased me but still I'd just like different handles.
