De-cat and lambda probe ?!

Hi,

I'm thinking of removing the cat, and replacing center and rear silencer with hi-perormnace ones. I'd also like to retain closed-loop lambda control in engine management system.

Is the functioning of lambda probe affected with cat-removal? Can it still remain in it's place and do it's job (when using unleded fuel, of course)?

Has anyone encountered some bad things with de-cat?

manifold

on my bravo 1.8hlx the lambada sensor is in the manifold. it just screws in so removing the cat wont cause a problem. the sensor should detect there is a freer flow and compensate accordingly. the only problem with decat is its not road legal. if the fuzz spot it they can impound etc. also it wont pass an MOT with it in (although some very clean engines do manage it). you can get a straight through pipe with a box around it so it looks like a cat but is really straight through.

good luck

forgot...

to say. i use a supersprint back system which gives a bit more power without shedloads of noise. combine it with a k&n and it sounds lovely. supersprint also do a manifold and cat replacement pipe.

exhaust

Riclemus,

As I understood, you have K&N, lambda sensor, no cat, center and rear sport silencers?
How much did you gain in power, noise, fuel economy?

De-cat is no problem in my country :)). MOT is not as rigorous as it is in Britain.
