General dashboard light help (fiat punto mk2)

Dear all,

i have bought a fiat punto MK2 W plate today and I was driving it home from a mates house at night where I noticed that the speedometer and also fuel gage were not lighting up, however the rest of the dashboard was (like indicator lights etc).

Any ideas why?

could be a fuse, or just the LED in the dash not working

so all the dials work (ie speed goes up as you drive, and the fuel guage is saying you've got fuel)
And the Directional lights / Headlights Symbols work

But the Backlight for the dash doesn't?

Either some kind soul unsoldered the bulbs
the Bulbs have just failed
the Fuse Has popped - stops the backlights working
Wire at back has come loose

I'd be checking all the fuses in the kick pannell by yours right nea
Failing that
Time to take dash out to check wiring at back is tight/good
failing that again - pop open the dash and check the LED's
