I have recently bought a fiat punto sporting 54 plate. All of the dials on the dashboard are incorrect, rev counter, speedo, petrol guage and temp guage. The plastic screen that covers them has been removed.

The person I bought the car from has informed me that her son fiddled with all the pointers and they haven't been accurate since.

Can anyone advise me of what could be wrong and the best route of action. is this something I could repair myself

I've not had this problem with fiats but I have had with Renaults

What I did was remove the clocks and then removed the needles using two spoons
One spoon on either side of the needle and gently persuade them off

Before refitting them I put the clocks back in the car with the face and needles still off
Plugged them in with the unit upright /level put the ignition on
And then put each needle in place.

I hope that makes any sense
